Ms Venkatraman Chithra, from Riverside Secondary School, is another stellar example. As the Head of Pupil Management, Ms Chithra had seen first-hand the desperate plight of the many youngsters she counselled. She has also counselled many pupils with personal or family problems, helping to restore in them hope and confidence. Her admirable efforts have not gone unrecognised. On one nomination form, a student considered her the “greatest influence in (her) life” and even dedicated a poem to her entitled “Angel in My Life”. Let me quote a line from the poem – “Her words will wipe away your greatest fears”. This line best captures the essence of Ms Chithra’s healing influence....

I used to be scared of Ms Chithra...She has this stern face with big eyes that says " Don't mess with me or else thats it". However since i became the vice president for the student council, me yuwei and jian Mei became very close to her and i realise shes a very very nice teacher and she actually smiles and laughs with us. We stayed up till late at nite during camp just talking to each other, She actually smiled at me when she pass me when normally she just keeps her serious face when she pass other students...That in a way causes some of my other frens to get jealous and think that im one of her 'pet'..childish people..... She inspire and motivates me a lot. Even though she doesnt teach me any subjects in sch ( she teaches POA) but during the O levels period she actually took the time to sit down with me during my free lesson and teach me.....i even went to her house before and she gave me free personal tutoring...Shes just so sweet...and even though she lets me and a few of us to call by her name only when we're with her, i respect her too much to do tat...to me she'll always be miss chithra a friend cum teacher who played a great role in my life.
